Fourteen Hope College athletic teams have earned the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Team GPA Award for the 2017-18 school year.

The MIAA Team GPA Award is presented to conference athletic teams that achieve a 3.300 or better grade point average for an academic year. Grade point averages are calculated at the end of the academic year.

Hope was one of three MIAA schools to share the league-high with 14 honorees.

Six of Hope's eight MIAA champions during the 2017-18 school year also are MIAA Team GPA Award recipients.

The men’s golf team, coached by Scott Lokers, recorded Hope's top GPA at 3.74. They finished sixth at the 2018 NCAA Division III national championships.

The MIAA champion women’s cross country team, led by coach Mark Northuis, finished with a 3.67 GPA.

The volleyball team, coached by Becky Schmidt, also earned a 3.67 GPA.

The MIAA champion women’s outdoor track & field team, coached by Kevin Cole, earned the award with a 3.66 GPA.

The MIAA champion Cole-guided women’s indoor track & field team posted a 3.61 GPA.

The MIAA champion women’s tennis team, led by coach Bob Cawood, finished with a 3.59 GPA.

The men’s tennis team, also led by Cawood, earned a 3.43 GPA.

The women’s golf team, coached by Greg Stafford, is honored after posting a 3.53 GPA.

The women's swimming & diving team, coached by John Patnott, recorded a 3.52 GPA.

The Patnott-guided men’s swimming & diving team claimed the award with a 3.47 GPA.

The MIAA champion women's basketball team, coached by Brian Morehouse, earned the distinction with a 3.49 GPA.

The MIAA champion women's soccer team, led by coach Leigh Sears, is honored after posting a 3.46 GPA.

The women's lacrosse team, guided by coach Kim Vincent, claimed the honor with a 3.42 GPA.

The softball team, under the direction of coach Mary VandeHoef, is honored after recording a 3.41 GPA.
