Hope College’s Nathaniel Hentschel and Nick Schanhals have swept Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men’s Lacrosse Player of the Week honors.

Both contributed to victories at Albion and Kalamazoo last week that earned the Flying Dutchmen their first MIAA championship and the top seed for this week’s league tournament.

Hentschel is the MIAA Offensive Player of the Week. The sophomore from Spring Lake, Michigan (Spring Lake HS) finished with two goals, five assists and four groundballs for the week in addition to aiding the nation’s fifth-leading scoring defense.

Hentschel totaled two goals and a career-high four assists during a 15-11 win at Albion on April 24. This is his second MIAA weekly honor.

Schanhals, a junior from North Muskegon, Michigan (North Muskegon), is the MIAA Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season and in his career.

He made 15 saves against Albion and seven against Kalamazoo.

This is his second MIAA weekly honor.
