The Hope College softball team will start regional play in the NCAA Division III Tournament at home.

The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association tournament champion Flying Dutch have been selected to host an NCAA regional this week at Wolters Stadium.

The three-day, double-elimination Holland, Michigan Regional begins on Thursday, May 10. Hope previously hosted an NCAA regional in 1996, 1995 and 1991.

NCAA Tournament Bracket 

This is the Flying Dutch’s eighth NCAA postseason appearance and third in four seasons. Hope advanced to last season’s regional final.

Postseason history 

Hope (29-9 overall) qualified by winning last week’s MIAA Tournament at Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Indiana. The Flying Dutch of head coach Mary VanderHoef won their final four games for the title.

On Thursday, Hope will play St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champion Greenville (Illinois) University in a first-round game. The other first-round game pits Calvin College against Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference champion Franklin (Indiana) College.

Play continues Friday and Saturday. The regional champion advances to next week’s super regional.
