Hope College’s Sydney Jones has been selected the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Softball Pitcher of the Week for games played March 19-25.
The senior from South Lyon, Michigan (East) is receiving the honor for the first time
this season and the fourth time in her career.
Jones recorded three wins and one save in four appearances last week in Clermont, Florida. She also threw the 10th no-hitter in Flying Dutch history.
Jones posted an ERA of 0.29 in 24 innings of work. She earned decisions against Benedictine, Plymouth State, and Wisconsin-Oshkosh. She started against Tufts and returned for the final inning to pick up the save.
Jones struck out 35 batters while only allowing four hits and six walks. Of the four runs she allowed, only one was earned.
Jones fanned a season-high 13 against Plymouth State during her first collegiate no-hitter.
