Two Hope College women’s golfers have earned All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Second-Team honors for the 2018 seasons: Abigail Meder and Jordyn Rioux.

The two sophomores finished in the Top 10 among MIAA golfers this fall to claim spots on the six-golfer second team.

Meder recorded an average of 81.2 over 108 holes of league play. The sophomore from Lansing, Michigan (Lansing Catholic Central) posted the eighth-lowest individual average in the MIAA. Her low round of the fall was a 2-over-par 74 at The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall.

Rioux averaged 81.6 strokes in MIAA competition this fall. The sophomore from Farmington, Michigan (Livonia Ladywood) had the ninth-lowest average among league golfers. Her low round was 76 at The Ravines Golf Club in Saugatuck.

Meder and Rioux helped the Flying Dutch place second in the team standings and qualify for this spring’s MIAA NCAA Division III Championship qualifier. Hope will host the first round of the 54-hole event.

“Both Abby and Jordyn are very hard workers in the classroom and on the golf course,” head coach Greg Stafford said. “They are also Academic All Americans. They are a pleasure to coach and great teammates.”
