The Hope College duo of Brian Simonich and Daniel Keith have been recognized by the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association for their performances in the pool last week.

Simonich, a senior from Highland, Michigan (Milford HS) is the MIAA Men’s Diver of the Week.

Keith, a sophomore from Saline, Michigan (Saline) is the MIAA Men’s Swimmer of the Week.

Simonich won 1-meter diving during Saturday’s dual meet against Albion College by posting a season-high, six-dive score of 299.55 points.

Simonich also finished third in 1-meter diving with a total of 293.15.

This is the first time this season and the second time in Simonich’s career he has been named MIAA Diver of the Week.

Keith took first the 100-yard freestyle in 46.42 seconds, an untapered time that is only 1.08 seconds off the school record.

Keith also won the 200 freestyle in a season-best 1:42.40 that is the second-fastest time in the MIAA this season.

Keith swam the butterfly in Hope’s victorious 200 medley relay with a split of 22.44 seconds. He also led off the runner-up 200 freestyle relay with a split of 21.43.

In Keith’s first season at Hope, he has claimed MIAA Swimmer of the Week honors three times.
