
Hope College’s Francesca Buchanan has received Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honors for the second consecutive week.
The senior forward from Grant, Michigan (Sparta HS) was chosen after averaging 20.5
points and earning Most Valuable Player honors at the Ohio Wesleyan University Bishop
Classic/Hoops for Hope last week.
Buchanan led Hope to victories against No. 16-ranked University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh
and Ohio Wesleyan.
On Friday, Buchanan totaled a game-high 18 points during a 63-57 victory against unbeaten
Wisconsin-Oshkosh. She also grabbed four rebounds, dished out two assists and recorded
two steals.
On Saturday, Buchanan topped all scorers with 23 points during the championship game
against Ohio Wesleyan. She also collected seven rebounds and one steal.
Buchanan shot 68.2 percent from the field during the tournament (15-22).
This is the seventh time in Buchanan’s career she has been named MIAA Player of the
Week.
