Hope College women’s basketball student-athlete Francesca Buchanan has been selected to participate in the inaugural Beyond Sports Women’s Collegiate NCAA Division III All-Star Game presented by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association.

The all-star game will be played at the Cregger Center on the campus of Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia, on March 16 at 5 p.m. immediately preceding the NCAA Division III women’s basketball national championship game.

The 18 all-stars were chosen by a committee of head women’s basketball coaches of NCAA Division III programs, who are also members of the WBCA. All players were nominated by WBCA member coaches.

Head coach Brian Morehouse is excited for Buchanan’s selection to the event.

“Frankie's career has been one of year-by-year improvement and this is a culmination of those efforts,” Morehouse said. “She is all about the team and team success. She sacrificed her minutes, so others could gain experience. A selfish player would have complained that her statistics were hurt by not playing more. Instead, Frankie was excited for their successes and experience.”

Buchanan averaged a team-leading 14.4 points and 6.8 rebounds per game this season while leading the Flying Dutch to a 24-5 overall record. Hope advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament.

Buchanan finished her career second among Hope scorers with 1,476 points and seventh among rebounds with 710.
