
Hope College quarterback Mason Opple has been selected as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men’s Football Offensive Player of the Week.
The senior from Hudsonville, Michigan (Hudsonville HS) guided the Flying Dutchmen
to a 21-7 victory at unbeaten Olivet College on Saturday that earned Hope the MIAA
lead outright.
Amid rainy and windy conditions, Opple recorded his second 200-yard rushing game in
his career. He totaled 213 yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries. He also completed
7-of-13 passes for 61 yards.
Opple reached the end zone on runs of 7 yards in the first quarter and 12 yards in
the fourth quarter.
Opple leads the MIAA with nine rushing touchdowns this season.
This is the second time this season Opple has been chosen as the MIAA Offensive Player
of the Week and the fourth time in his career.
