The Hope College men’s soccer team is projected to be in contention in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association title chase this fall.

With 17 points, the Flying Dutchmen finished second in the MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll announced on Wednesday. Coaches could not vote for their own teams.

Calvin College topped the preseason poll with seven points. Adrian College came in third with 20 points.

Hope is looking to build on a successful 2018 debut season under head coach Dave Brandt.

The Flying Dutchmen return an All-MIAA First Team midfielder Isaac Braak in a senior from Grand Haven, Michigan (Grand Haven).

Two All-MIAA second-team honorees are back as well for Hope: senior forward Logan Bylsma of Hudsonville, Michigan (Hudsonville) and junior midfielder Ty Dalton of Rockford, Michigan (Rockford).

The Flying Dutchmen posted a 14-3-1 overall record last season and qualified for the MIAA Tournament.
