The Hope College women’s lacrosse team is expected to challenge for a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association championship this spring.

The Flying Dutch finished second in the 2019 MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll with one first-place vote and 52 points. Coaches could not vote for their own teams.

Hope is coming off an eight-win season that saw the Flying Dutch qualify for the MIAA Tournament for the fourth consecutive time.

Under the direction of head coach Kim Vincent, Hope returns on its 2019 roster three All-MIAA second-team honorees from last season: senior defender Bailey Berberich of Clarendon Hills, Illinois (Hinsdale Central HS), sophomore midfielder Madison Micho of Grand Rapids, Michigan (East Grand Rapids), and sophomore midfielder Carly Pieri of Alto, Michigan (Caledonia).

The Flying Dutch open the season on Friday, February 22 with a non-league match at Cleary University in Brighton, Michigan.

Hope trailed only preseason favorite Calvin College in the preseason poll. Saint Mary’s College was third.
