A documentary by three Hope College students has won second place in the 2020 Michigan Student Broadcast Awards sponsored by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters Foundation.

The award was presented on Wednesday, March 4, during the Great Lakes Media Show held in Lansing.  It is the third time in five years that a film by Hope students has won either first or second place in the annual awards program, selected from among documentaries by students at colleges and universities across the state.

The documentary, “Everything” by senior Aiyana Cisneros of Holland, junior Abigail Krueger of Holt and senior Elizabeth Melby of St. Charles, Illinois, centers on a family dealing with a child’s ongoing medical needs.  The three students, all of whom are majoring in communication, developed the 17-minute film in the fall of 2019 for a class at Hope taught by Dr. Choonghee Han, associate professor of communication.

The awards program honors high school television, high school radio, college television and college radio broadcasts, in multiple categories that also include Hard News, News Feature, Talk Show/Scripted Show and Digital Media Experience, among others.
