The Hope College women's outdoor track/field team captured both of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Athlete of the Week awards.

Sophomore Amanda Lines of Naples, Florida (First Baptist Academy) is the Women's Track Athlete of the Week, while senior Addyson Gerig of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa) is the Women's Field Athlete of the Week.

Both Lines, pictured at right, and Gerig, pictured below, both excelled at the MIAA Field Day last week and Alma College and helped the Flying Dutch claim their third consecutive outdoor league championship.

Lines sprinted to a first-place time in the 200 meters of 26.04 seconds and a third-place effort in the 100-meter dash of 12.96 seconds.

The comprehensive education K-8 and special education major also ran the second leg of the MIAA champion 4x100 relay.

This is the first time Lines has claimed the MIAA weekly honor.

Gerig, a senior from Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa), finished in the top five in three field events last week.

The elementary science major was the MIAA runner-up in the high jump with a leap of 1.56 meters (5 feet, 1 ¼ inch), took third in the triple jump at 10.27 meters (33-8 ½), and placed fifth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.68 seconds.

This is the second week in a row and the fourth time all-time Gerig has received the MIAA weekly award.
