Hope College’s Tracy Westra has been honored as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Specialty Athlete of the Week.

The senior environmental engineering major from Clarendon Hills, Illinois (Timothy Christian HS) is receiving this honor for the second time this season, and for the fourth time in her career. 

Westra had solid performances throughout the three games last weekend for the Flying Dutch in their wins over Millikin University (Illinois) and No. 14 Ohio Northern University, as well as in their loss to No. 2 Claremont-Mudd Scripps College (California).

The setter averaged 38 assists, 6.3 kills and 13 digs for the Flying Dutch at the Midwest Invitational hosted by Calvin University.

Against Claremont-Mudd Scripps, Westra tallied 29 assists and four blocks over four sets. 

In a three-set sweep against Millikin, Westra finished with a total of 31 assists as well as seven kills and 14 digs. 

Against Ohio Northern, Westra collected 55 assists and 11 digs over four sets.
