Hope College center fielder Evan Maday has received all-region honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association.

The senior from Grand Rapids, Michigan (East Kentwood HS) is a second-team selection in the Mideast Region.

Maday hit a team-leading .360 this season while starting all 40 games for the Flying Dutchmen. While batting third, the civil engineering major recorded career-highs in home runs with eight, runs batted in with 38, and runs scored with 42.

The 42 runs scored are the fourth-most by a Hope student-athlete.

Maday also swiped a school-record 38 stolen bases in 42 attempts this season. He became Hope’s career stolen base leader as well with 80 in 91 attempts.

Maday’s 51 stolen bases in MIAA games are the third-most in league history.

His 166 career hits are the fifth-most by a member of the Flying Dutchmen.

Defensively, Maday excelled as well this season with 1.000 fielding percentage. In 117 chances, he collected 114 putouts and three assists.
