Hope College second baseman Nolan Gardner been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Baseball Position Player of the Week.

Gardner from Grand Rapids, Michigan (East Grand Rapids HS) helped the Flying Dutchmen sweep three games from Trine University last week. (The fourth game of the series was canceled due to inclement weather.)

It is the sophomore's first MIAA Athlete of the Week honor.

Gardner batted .500 against the Thunder with three hits, two runs batted in, and three runs scored. All three of his hits were doubles.

Defensively, Gardner made four put-outs at second base with six assists. He committed zero errors.

In stealing one base as well in Friday's Game 2, Gardner raised his season total to 24 stolen bases, good for second on the Hope team and in the MIAA.
