Hope College shortstop Brant Kym has been chosen as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Position Athlete of the Week.

The senior business and economics major from Libertyville, Illinois (Libertyville HS) is recognized for his performance in three Flying Dutchmen victories last week.

Kym batted .556 with five hits, including one home run, one triple and two doubles. He also collected seven runs batted in and five runs scored.

Kym went 3-for-3 with a walk and four runs scored on Friday during a 13-3 victory against Olivet College in Hope’s home opener. He hit a two-run homer during the sixth inning, his first homer of the season.

Then, on Saturday, Kym went 2-for-3 with four RBIs, during a 16-7 victory at Albion College in Game 2 of a doubleheader. He tripled and doubled.

This is Kym’s first MIAA weekly honor.
