Hope College’s Grant Barrett has been chosen as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Baseball Position Player of the Week.

The junior first baseman from Chelsea, Michigan (Chelsea HS) is receiving the honor after hitting .454 with three home runs last week and helping the Flying Dutchmen advance to the MIAA Tournament championship series.

Barrett went 5-for-11 with five runs scored and four runs batted in over three tournament games, all Hope victories.

The exercise science major hit his first collegiate home run with a two-run blast during a 6-1 victory against Calvin University on Thursday at Boeve Stadium.

Barrett followed that up with two solo homers during a Pool B-clinching, 24-14 victory against Albion College on Friday at Boeve Stadium.

This is Barrett’s MIAA Position Player of the Week honor.
