Hope College's Leah Newhof has been recognized as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week.

Newhof of Caledonia, Michigan (Grand Rapids Christian HS) helped the Flying Dutch to their ninth consecutive MIAA Tournament title last week. 

It is the senior's second MIAA Athlete of the Week honor this season.

Newhof, an exercise science major, went undefeated in each of her singles and doubles matches in the tournament.

At No. 2 singles, she topped the Belles' Lucy Chamberlain, 6-1, 6-0, in the semifinals and defeated Kalamazoo's Maddy Winarski, 6-2, 6-4, in the finals.

At No. 1 doubles with teammate Sydney Jackson, Newhof played to an 8-4 pro set victory over Saint Mary's Megan Davy and Alyssa Gulli and a 8-3 win over Kalamazoo's Helen Pelak  and Sophie Zhuang.

On the season, Newhof has not dropped a set in any of her singles wins as she has a 10-1 overall record. At doubles with Jackson, she is also 10-1 this year.
