The Hope College men’s lacrosse team has received the 2021 United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Team Academic Award.

To be recognized, teams must record at least a 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

The USILA Scholar All-America Program was established to recognize student-athletes from USILA member institutions who have distinguished themselves academically, athletically and as citizens in their communities.

This season, the Flying Dutchmen posted a 13-2 overall record, won the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament, and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament for the first time.

Head coach Michael Schanhals said he is proud of his student-athletes for excelling despite all of the challenges during this school year.

“A ton of credit to our leadership team, and academic liaison Ian Bosman, for setting the tone and standard for our team,” Schanhals said. “It was a tough year, but a group of tough guys survived and thrived.”
