Hope College’s Ty Dalton and Brandon Fles have been named Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men’s Soccer Athletes of the Week.

The pair helped the Flying Dutchmen defeat three opponents last week and win the MIAA Tournament for the third time in team history.

Dalton is the MIAA Offensive Men’s Soccer Athlete of the Week for the first time in his Flying Dutchmen career.

The midfielder and communication major scored the game-winning goal in a 2-1 overtime victory against Trine University in Saturday’s championship game at Van Andel Soccer Stadium. It was Dalton’s first goal of the season and the sixth of his career.

Fles is the MIAA Men’s Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week for the first time.

The defender from Spring Lake, Michigan (Western Michigan Christian) helped Hope shut out Adrian in the quarterfinals and allow one goal apiece to Albion in the semifinals and Trine in the final.
