Two All-America performances highlighted Hope College’s final day at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track/Field Championships on Saturday in Greensboro, N.C.

Nick Hoffman (men’s 1,500 meters) and Ana Tucker (women’s 5,000 meters) ran much of their races with the lead pack before finishing third and fourth place, respectively. The top eight finishers in each event are All-Americans.

Hoffman (Holland, Michigan / Holland HS) recorded a time of 3:47.74. Top-seeded Gabriel Pommier of North Central College (Illinois) won the event with a run of 3:46.63.

Hoffman is the fourth Flying Dutchman to earn All-America honors in the event. The junior from Holland, Michigan (Holland HS) joins Ryan TerLouw (2005-06-07), Jeff Weber (2004), and Rick Bruggers (1968).

TerLouw held Hope’s previous top finish with a fourth-place effort in 2007.

Tucker clocked a time of 16:40.66. Top-seeded Parley Hannan of Ithaca College (N.Y.) won the race in 16:22.85.

Tucker took the lead briefly with four laps remaining after clocking her fastest lap of 1:17.795.

The sophomore from Midland, Michigan (H.H. Dow) joined Marcia VanderSall as Flying Dutch All-Americans in the event. VanderSall finished sixth in the nation in both 1992 and 1993.
