Hope College’s Nick Hoffman has been chosen as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.

The junior public accounting major from Holland, Michigan (Holland HS) is receiving the honor for the first time as an outdoor athlete. He has been MIAA Indoor Track Athlete of the Week three times in his career.

Hoffman finished second in the 1,500 meters at the Grand Valley State University Al Owens Classic last weekend.

Hoffman recorded a career-best time of 3 minutes, 49.48 seconds in a field of NCAA Division II and Division III runners. He was within three seconds of the school record set by Ryan Terlouw in 2007.

Hoffman also clocked an 800-meter time of 1:59.22 that was good for 21st.
