Hope College’s Sara Kraus has been chosen as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women’s Swimming Athlete of the Week.

The freshman from Rockford, Michigan (Rockford HS) won both of her individual events during Saturday’s double dual meet against NCAA Division II Hillsdale College and Division III Ohio Northern University.

In the 200-yard backstroke, Kraus posted the nation’s second-fastest time with a winning swim of 2 minutes, 5.12 seconds that also set a pool record at Hillsdale.

Kraus also won the 100-yard backstroke by clocking a time of 58.78 seconds that ranks 10th in Division III.

On Friday, Kraus led off the 400 individual medley relay with a time of 59.96 seconds with the MIAA’s fastest 100 breaststroke split. The relay ranks second in the nation.
