Hope College’s Sydney Jackson has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week.

The junior from Fort Wayne, Indiana (Carroll HS) is receiving the honor for the second time in her Flying Dutch career.

Jackson is honored after winning a total of four matches last weekend and leading Hope to two season-opening victories. She played No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles.

Against NCAA Division II Davenport, Jackson topped Willimien Coetzee, 6-4, 6-7 (2), 10-7 at No. 1 singles and paired with Leah Newhof for an 8-6 victory at No. 1 doubles against Coetzee and Sophie Jackson. The Flying Dutch won the match, 8-1.

Against NAIA Cornerstone, Jackson won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles against Cornerstone’s Alayna Bowman and 8-2 with Newhof at No. 1 doubles against Bowman and Hanna De La Vega. The Flying Dutch won the match, 6-3.
