Hope College middle hitter McKenna Otto and setter Tracy Westra have been selected as the MIAA Volleyball Athlete and Specialist of the Week, respectively.

Both are being honored for their stellar play to help lead the Flying Dutch to an MIAA Tournament championship last week.

Otto, a junior biomedical/biomechanical engineering major from Wheaton, Illinois (Wheaton North HS), is claiming league athlete of the week honors for the third time in her career. 

She recorded a total of 42 kills in three matches during the MIAA tournament on a .304 hitting average. In Hope's MIAA tournament championship victory over Calvin University, she also recorded double-digit digs with 10 as well as two service aces.

Westra, an environmental engineering major from Clarendon Hills, Illinois (Timothy Christian HS), is earning her second specialty player of the week award in her career.

She had 95 assists during the three MIAA tournament rounds last week, with 44 assists coming during the four-set championship match at Calvin. She also tallied six digs in that final match.
