The Jack Ridl Visiting Writers Series at Hope College will host authors Marianne Chan and Gabriel Bump on Tuesday, March 8, at 7 p.m. in Winants Auditorium of Graves Hall.

Audience members will get a chance to hear the authors read their own work and answer questions.  The public is invited, and admission is free.

Marianne ChanMarianne Chan is author of “All Heathens,” a book of poetry honored with the 2021 GLCA New Writers Award in Poetry. As well as being a writer, Chan is also an Assistant Poetry Editor at Acre Books and is pursuing a Ph.D. in English and Creative Writing at the University of Cincinnati.

Gabriel Bump is the author of “Everywhere You Don’t Belong,” which has been honored with the GLCA New Writers Award in Fiction and was a New York Times Notable Book of 2020. Bump has also been awarded the Ernest J. Gaines Award for Literary Excellence and the Heartland Booksellers Award for Fiction, among other honors. He currently teaches at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
