Hope College’s Evan Thomas is the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week.

The junior guard from Okemos, Michigan (Okemos HS) is receiving the honor for the fourth time this season and his career and for the second consecutive week.

Thomas averaged 27.0 points and 11.0 rebounds over two Flying Dutchmen victories last week. The biology major shot 50 percent from the field (17-34), 57.1 percent from 3-point range (4-7), and 94.1 percent from the foul line (16-17).

During an 81-78 win at Adrian College on Wednesday, Thomas scored a career-high 36 points and matched his season-high with 13 rebounds. He scored 30 points in the second half alone to help Hope overcome a seven-point halftime deficit. 

During a 89-63 win against Alma College on Saturday at DeVos Fieldhouse, Thomas netted a team-high 18 points and nine rebounds.
