The national champion Hope College women’s basketball team has earned the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association's top academic honor for the 2021-22 school year.

The Flying Dutch made the WBCA’s Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll for NCAA Division III after recording a 3.641 team grade point average.

Led by head coach Brian Morehouse, Hope captured the third NCAA championship in team history with a 71-58 victory against the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater on March 19 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The Flying Dutch finished with a 32-1 overall record. Hope also claimed an MIAA co-championship after posting a 15-1 league record.

To open the season, the Flying Dutch won their first 16 games, contributing to a 61-game winning streak that began during the 2019-20 season and is tied for the third-longest in Division III women’s basketball history.

The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA and two-year college women’s basketball teams across the nation that carry the highest combined GPAs inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season.
