The Haworth Hotel of Hope College has received a Silver Award in the 2022 Loyal E. Horton Dining Awards program of the National Association of College and University Food Services (NACUFS).

The hotel has been honored in the “Catering – Online Menu” category, which recognized Gold and Silver winners for a distinct, special menu used for catered occasions on campus.  Named for a NACUFS founder, past president, and highly regarded innovator, the dining awards celebrate exemplary menus, presentations, special event planning, and new dining concepts, and provide an avenue for sharing ideas and creative presentations in campus dining services.

The Haworth Hotel offers 48 guest rooms and 10,000 square feet of conference space.  The largest of the 13 meeting and banquet facilities is 5,500 square feet in size and can accommodate groups of up to 400.  The hotel is operated for Hope by Creative Dining Services, which also provides food service for the rest of campus, and features an executive chef onsite.

In addition to presenting the options available for meals, receptions and meetings, the menu outlines the hotel’s commitment to purchasing locally and sustainability.  As outlined in the overview prepared for the competition: “The Haworth Hotel & Conference Center Catering Menu was developed under three pillars: sustainability, seasonality and constituency…  Daily collaboration with our chefs and vendors provides options that encourage healthier plant-forward eating habits for our guests: local purchasing, when possible, with eco-friendly disposables as a priority. Following events, we partner with Community Action House and The Mission to support our Holland community by donating additional meals.”

The Haworth Hotel is located at 225 College Ave., facing College Avenue between 9th and 10th streets, and additionally serves as a welcome center for visitors to the college and a gathering place for all.  The hotel opened in January 1997 and is named in recognition of a combined corporate-family donation to Hope College by Haworth Inc. and the Haworth family.  It was recently comprehensively remodeled, reopening in June 2021 following a two-year renovation made possible through an additional gift from Haworth Inc. and led by Patricia Urquiola, an award-winning designer and architect based in Milan, Italy.  More information about the hotel is available at
