The Princeton Review® – a national education services company – released its third annual Mental Health Services Honor Roll, and included Hope College’s Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) for its exceptional programming around student mental health and wellbeing.
In its summary of the 76 institutions earning this recognition, The Princeton Review highlighted CAPS’ same-day scheduling option, after-hours support, mental-health
education for students, peer support groups, and skills training for all Residential
Life staff and many other departments. Another program highlighted was the Hope Health
Benefit, where all full-time students enrolled in 12+ credits have unlimited access
and treatment with minimal wait time at the campus health center and CAPS — at no
additional cost. “As we continue to develop our campuswide wellbeing framework, we
want to ensure our community needs are met and that no one falls through the gaps,”
said Dr. Rekha Varghese, director of Hope’s Counseling and Psychological Services.
The annual Mental Health Services Honor Roll is designed to help students who are researching, heading to, or already attending college learn what mental-health services exist among the schools they’re considering.
“We’re tremendously proud of this achievement, which is the product of thoughtful planning and hard work by CAPS staff, and great collaboration with our campus partners,” Varghese said.
About The Princeton Review Mental Health Services Honor Roll
Schools that earn the Honor Roll designation demonstrate a strong commitment to their
students' mental health and well-being. The selections for 2027 were based on data
from The Princeton Review's 2026 Campus Mental Health Survey. It asked administrators at 739 colleges 77 questions about their school's counseling,
mental health, and wellness services for students. The Princeton Review also surveyed 56,000 students across 300 colleges about their awareness of their
school's mental health services.
