The annual Juried Student Show highlights the creativity of our students here at Hope College. The gallery now showcases 26 artworks, selected from over 180 submissions by more than 70 students. Each year, an esteemed artist or curator is invited to choose the artwork for the show from that pool of entries. Our guest juror this year is Michele Bosak, the exhibitions director at Kendall College of Art and Design.

The artwork now on display encompasses many mediums, including painting, printmaking, photography, sculpture, and installation. We are proud to present the Juried Student Show each year to celebrate the incredible talent of students from all across Hope's campus. Among these artists are our first, second, and third place winners: Estherqueen Koomson, Shadows of the Soul #2; Renee Marting, The Only Way Out is Through; and Carlee Schafer, Self Portrait.

Juror Biography

Michele Bosak is a Midwest-based curator and designer with over 15 years of experience in contemporary art and design. As exhibitions director at Kendall College of Art and Design, she specializes in producing dynamic, inclusive exhibitions, often focusing on marginalized genders, Queer culture, and the intersections of art, design, and technology.

Bosak curates through a lens of collective authorship and has developed, managed, and mounted over 50 exhibitions, guest curated, contributed to catalogs, and juried numerous shows. As a longtime advocate for artists, she recently began arts consulting through Fieldwork Collab, providing guidance and support throughout the creative process.

Her passion project is the Standard Project Space, a garage gallery established in 2020 that operates on a pop-up basis. The space showcases work by folks who fall under the large umbrella of being Queer, BIPOC, and/or experiencing marginalization due to their gender, and connects their skills and services to the broader community.
