Special Programs and Opportunities

From scholarships to off-campus internships in Chicago, Philadelphia and New York, there are plenty of opportunities for incoming and current theatre students.

Distinguished Artist Awards

Renewable for four years, the Distinguished Artist Awards (DAA) provide eligible incoming art, dance, music, theatre or creative writing students with $2,500 each year toward their college costs. Theatre DAA recipients must plan to major or minor in theatre. Request information for the DAA in theater.

Independent Projects

Advanced students have the opportunity to work on independent student-led (THEA 490) productions, which include actors, designers, stage managers and directors. Students must apply one semester before the planned production.

Hope Summer Repertory Theatre

HSRT is an Equity Small Professional Theatre operating on Hope’s campus from May–August. Our students have the opportunity to work with theatre professionals from around the country through summer internships and employment.

Off-Campus Opportunities

Our students take advantage of exciting opportunities working directly with arts organizations in the Great Lakes Colleges Association (GLCA) New York Arts Program, the Chicago Semester and The Philadelphia Center.
