Todd Wiebe
Librarian - Head of Research and InstructionTodd Wiebe is head of research and instruction at Van Wylen Library. In this role he oversees the planning, promotion and implementation of all library and information literacy instruction initiatives, as well as the various research help services available. He serves on the Library Leadership Team and is responsible for developing library collections in select subject areas. In 2023–2024 Todd served as interim dean of libraries at Hope.
Todd’s graduate studies in library and information science (LIS) concentrated on archival administration, but through exposure to a wide range of LIS subjects via coursework and other hands-on experiences, he found himself most drawn to working in a liberal arts college library setting as a “generalist,” teaching research/information literacy skills and working with undergraduate students.
He is active in the profession at both the state and national level and has presented and published on numerous topics related to academic librarianship and information literacy. At Hope, he has served on a wide range of teams and committees including co-chairing the General Education Revision Task Force from 2018–2021.

Outside the college
Todd is married to his wife, Lora, with whom he has two children, Harrison (“Harry”) and Maya. His personal interests and hobbies include old-school skateboarding and freestyle BMX, drumming, tattoos, craft beer, walking the family guard dog, “Bingo,” and rooting for his favorite sports teams, the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays. In his high school and college days, Todd was a drummer for several moderately successful metal, punk and hard rock alternative bands based out of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada (hometown), and Anderson, Indiana (college town). Ask him sometime about the “tour” one of his bands went on. Nowadays, he blasts out beats in the comfort of his own home and occasionally showcases his skateboarding and BMX prowess for the neighborhood kids, who pretend to be impressed.
