Senior Lacey Wicksall of Traverse City (TC Central HS) ended her collegiate career by finishing 44th at the NCAA Division III national championship tournament which concluded Friday in Green Lake, Wisc.
On Friday Wicksall rebounded by shooting 44-45--89 to move up four places in the standings.
She had earlier rounds of 45-40--85, 40-44--84 and 46-48--94. Her four-day, 72-hole total was 352 strokes.
The tournament medalist was Brittany Cary of McMurry, Tex. at 314 strokes.
Wicksall was one of 10 individual golfers who joined players from 10 teams in the tournament. A three-time All-MIAA golfer, she competed at national championships three times. In 2001 she was voted the Division III national freshman of the year after achieving All-America honors with a 15th place finish. In 2002 she finished 22nd at the national tournament.
Methodist, N.C won the national championship edging Mary Hardin-Baylor, Tex. by two strokes, 1,303-1,305. Saint Mary's of the MIAA placed eighth at 1,384 strokes.
