It was an impressive improvement for a Flying Dutch squad that had ended seventh in the MIAA in 2004.
Saint Mary's headed the field in the conference tournament, finishing four strokes ahead of Olivet and 13 ahead of Hope. It propelled the Belles to their fourth straight seasonal championship, averaging 342.6 strokes per 18-hole round followed by Olivet 348.0, Hope 352.0, Albion 359.0, Alma 365.8, Tri-State 371.6, Kalamazoo 388.9, Calvin 400.0, and Adrian 425.8.
The seasonal league medalist was Saint Mary's senior Megan Mattia at 80.6 strokes per round. Hope senior Brittanny Philo of Greenville (Greenville HS) tied for sixth in the final player standings averaging 86.0 strokes and achieved All-MIAA first team recognition.
Freshman Kristi Yamaoka of Zeeland, Mich. (Zeeland HS) placed on the All-MIAA second team by finishing 11th in the player standings with an average of 88.4.
Junior Holly Sneller of Holland, Mich. (Hamilton HS) and sophomore Julie Hoogerhyde of Grand Rapids, Mich. (Forest Hills Northern HS) each averaged 90.0 strokes per round 16th in the player standings.
