The South Florida-based rock band Copeland will perform at Hope College on Friday, Feb. 3, at 9 p.m. at the Knickerbocker Theatre in downtown Holland.
Tickets are $15 for the general public and $5 for Hope students. Advance sales are taking place at the Student Union Desk on the main floor of the DeWitt Center. Any remaining tickets will also be available at the door.
The band has been named "Impressive" by "Paste Magazine." Released on The Militia Group in 2005, Copeland's "In Motion" was in Billboard's Top 200 and came in at the #1 spot on the Billboard Alternative New Artist Chart. Selling close to 12,000 copies in the first week, "In Motion" placed on virtually every single chart possible, ranking #4 on Overall New Artist Album charts.
In addition, the band's single, "Pin Your Wings," has been featured widely, including on iTunes and MTV.com. In September 2005, Copeland won the Yahoo! Music "Who's Next?" competition, taking in nearly half of the votes.
The band will be on the eve of a major U.S. tour when it performs at Hope. The tour will begin on Saturday, Feb. 11, in Pittsburgh, Pa., and continue through mid-April, also including The Starting Line and label mates Cartel, as well as Fearless Records artist Gatsby's American Dream.
The members of Copeland are Aaron Marsh (vocals, guitar, mellotron, organ, piano), Bryan Laurneson (guitar, piano), James Likeness (bass, backing vocals) and Jon Bucklew (music).
The Student Union Desk is open Mondays through Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The DeWitt Center is located on Columbia Avenue at 12th Street, and the Knickerbocker Theatre is located at 86 E. 8th St.
