The Hope College Symphonette will present solo and combined works in concert on Saturday, March 4, at 7:30 p.m. in Dimnent Memorial Chapel.
The public is invited. Admission is free.
Violinists Alexandru Hamzea, a freshman from Brasov, Romania, and Jennifer Tuinenga, a junior from Holland, will perform the "Concerto in D minor for Two Violins" by J.S. Bach. Cellist Keirtsen Schwanbeck, a senior from Williamsport, Pa., will perform "Elegie" by Gabriel Faure. Trombonist Aaron Hawn, a senior from Midland, will play the "Concerto for Trombone and Orchestra" by Vaughan Williams.
In addition, Amanda Danielson, a junior and piccolo player from Alto, will be featured in the "Concerto for Piccolo and Strings" by Antonio Vivaldi; and Carol Beth Steiner, a junior and flutist from Rochester, will present the "Fantasie for Flute and Orchestra" by Faure.
In addition, other works on the program will be the "Adagio for Strings" by Samuel Barber; "Petite Suite for Orchestra" by Claude Debussy; "Hoe-down" from "Rodeo" by Aaron Copland; and "Fete Polonaise" by Emmanuel Chabrier.
The concert will be the last concert before the Hope College Symphonette Tour 2006, which includes six concerts in Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida.
Dimnent Memorial Chapel is located on College Avenue at 12th Street.
