The Hope College Great Performance Series will feature Synergy Brass Quintet, on Friday, Oct. 17, at 7:30 p.m. in Dimnent Memorial Chapel.

The quintet's unique, upbeat performances are known to engage both new and veteran classical audience members.  "Five virtuoso musicians... the performance was superior," reviewed "The Rapid City Journal" of South Dakota.

Synergy Brass Quintet is one of the busiest ensembles in classical music today, averaging nearly 300 engagements per year. The group's engagements have taken the ensemble to every corner of the United States including the Ravinia Music Festival in Illinois, the Bethlehem Musikfest in Pennsylvania, the Tanglewood Music Festival in Massachusetts, and internationally at the Festival de Musica de Camara de Aguascalientes. And, after hearing the ensemble at Tanglewood in 2003, Samuel Adler invited the Synergy Brass Quintet to perform on the premiere recording of his "Transfiguration: An Ecumenical Mass." Synergy is often heard on National Public Radio, and in 2005 the quintet broadcast on NBC with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

"The American Record Guide" said that the quintet's "performances are impeccable and deeply moving. This group delivers gorgeous, balanced sound and has completely mastered any technical skill you can name."

In addition to its performance schedule, Synergy dedicates an enormous amount of time to the education of tomorrow's musicians. The quintet has presented various programs at more than 500 public schools throughout the United States. While in Holland the ensemble will be also be performing at Holland East K-8 and hosting a workshop with high school and college brass students.
