The 23rd annual Hope College Musical Showcase concert will be presented on Monday, March 7, at 8 p.m. in DeVos Performance Hall in Grand Rapids. The concert will feature more than 200 Hope students performing in the college's major instrumental and vocal organizations as well as with smaller ensembles and as soloists.

The concert will feature more than 200 Hope students performing in the college's major instrumental and vocal organizations as well as with smaller ensembles and as soloists.
Hope College students take the stage for this fast-paced, musical spectacular, during which audience members hear everything from opera to jazz.
The hardest part for those seeing the show is containing their enthusiasm, at least at first. In the tradition of the quick-moving musical event, audience members are asked to hold their applause until intermission and the end of the performance.
Vocal performances include junior Caitlin McDougall of Flint singing "Bester Jungling," from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Der Schauspieldirektor"; senior Sarah Ashcroft of Holland performing Lee Hoiby's "Where the music comes from"; senior Daniel Smith of Tekonsha performing "Questa o quella per me parisono," from Giuseppe Verdi's "Rigoletto"; sophomore Haley Hodges of Hart performing "O Miobabbinocaro," from Giacomo Puccini's "Gianni Schicchi"; and junior Heather Benson of Muskegon performing "Tristezza," by Francesco Paola Totsi.
Violin solos will include sophomore Erin Gilbert of Marshall performing Fritz Kreisler's "Liebesleid (Love's Sorrow)"; sophomore Alec Norkey of Jackson performing Sergei Projofiev's "March from Love for Three Oranges," arranged by Jascha Heifetz; and sophomore Luke Panning of Holland performing "Tambourin Chinois," by Fritz Kriesler.
Piano solos include junior Brent Smith of Owosso performing Maurice Ravel's "Toccata (Le Tombeau de Couperin)" and senior John Donkersloot of Zeeland performing "Polka" by Sergei Rachmaninoff. Organ solos include senior Leah Hottel of Westlake, Ohio, performing Louis Vierne's "Final, Symphony No. 1" and junior Kaitlyn Davis of Rochester Hills performing the third movement of "Trio Sonata in E Flat Major" by Johann Sebastian Bach.
The duet of junior Brent Smith of Owosso, pianist, and senior Lauren Conley of WhiteLake, soprano, will perform Carlisle Floyd's "Pretty Night." The trio of sophomore violinist Alec Norkey of Jackson, freshman cellist Alexander Stradal of Muskegon and sophomore pianist Katherine Callam of Holland will perform Clara Schumann's "Trio in G Minor Op. 17, Adante."
Chamber groups include a Wind Quintet performing Malcolm Arnold's "Allegro Vivace, Three Shanties for Wind Quintet"; and the Mainstream Ensemble performing "Ikebukuro," composed by senior Nate Roberts of West Milton, Pa.
Other groups include the Jazz Arts Collective performing "Be Bop," by Dizzy Gillespie'; the Women's Chamber Choir performing Antonio Estevez's "Mata del anima sola (Tree of the lonely soul)," arranged by Alberto Grau and featuring soprano Caitlin McDougall; the Symphony Orchestra performing Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Overture to Cossi fan tutte"; the Chapel Choir performing "Musicks Empire," by Lloyd Pfautsch; the Handbell Ensemble performing "Bwana Asfwe! (Praise the Lord)," by Cathy Moklebust; and the Wind Ensemble performing "Viento y Tangos," by Michael Gandolfi.
Tickets for Musical Showcase are $10 each, and may be ordered through the Hope College ticket office in the main lobby of the DeVos Fieldhouse, located at 222 Fairbanks Ave., between Ninth and 11th streets. The ticket office is open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and may be called at (616) 395-7890.
Tickets may also be purchased over the counter at the Grand Center Ticket Office, which is open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
