A 9/11 Community Interfaith Service of Remembrance, Reflection, and Peacemaking will be held Sunday, September 11, at 4 p.m. in the Maas Auditorium..

The service will include remarks by spiritual leaders from Christian, Jewish, Islamic, and Baha'i faiths; readings and prayers; music by adult, children's, and bell choirs; and dance. A free-will offering will be taken to cover expenses, with remaining funds donated to Hope United for Justice.

People interested in walking together to the service will gather at the Centennial Park gazebo, River Avenue between 10th and 11th Streets, at 3:30 p.m.

The Holland service, sponsored by ten local churches and four organizations, will mark the date in 2001 when planes were crashed into the World Trade Center towers in New York City, the Pentagon, and rural Pennsylvania with the loss of thousands of lives.

Sponsors are the Hope College A. J. Muste Committee, Alliance for Cultural and Ethnic Harmony, First Presbyterian, First United Methodist, Baha'i Community of Holland, Maple Avenue Ministries, Grace Episcopal, Hope Church, Interfaith Congregation, Lakeshore Women for Peace, Hope College United for Justice, Third Reformed, Peace Lutheran, and St. Francis de Sales.
