Seniors Alex Doman of Royal Oak (Brother Rice HS) and Josh Droppers of Kalamazoo (Portage Northern HS) have been selected to play in the Hansen Senior Bowl on Monday, Jan. 16, at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex, Virginia Beach, Va.

The Hansen Senior Bowl is an allstar game for players at all levels below Division I FCS. It is named in honor of the memory of Don Hansen, a longtime advocate of small college football who died in 2010. The Bowl was previously known as the Aztec Bowl.

Both offensive linemen, Doman (a guard) and Droppers (a tackle) were instrumental in leading the 2011 Flying Dutchmen to a 7-3 season record and second place finish in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA). The 6-3, 285 pound Droppers was named an All-MIAA first team honoree for a third straight year while the 6-1, 280 pound Doman received All-MIAA second team recognition.

"Josh is as good as any lineman, no make that any player that I have coached," Hope head coach Dean Kreps told the Grand Rapids Press. "He has a total understanding of our offense and knows what all 11 players do on every play, receiver routes included. He is a true student of the game as well as being a very physical player and truly was like a coach on the field for us."

Kreps also had high praise for Doman noting "he took almost every snap this season at left guard after playing right guard last year. He is an explosive blocker and loves to pull and trap. We had great success with our counter game this year and we usually ran it to the right side, which gets Alex and Josh pulling to thr right side. Alex would trap and Josh would pull us through the hole."

Hope has a long history of sending players to post-season bowl games dating back to the 1959 season. In the late 1990s and early 2000s the Flying Dutchmen sent five players to the Aztec Bowl.
