Cathy Stoel, office assistant to multiple departments in the natural and applied sciences, received the Natural and Applied Sciences Division Staff Excellence Award for 2012-13 on Friday, Dec. 7, for her high level of job effectiveness and positive student and faculty interactions. Cathy Stoel, office assistant to multiple departments in the natural and applied sciences, has been presented the Natural and Applied Sciences Division Staff Excellence Award for 2012-13 for her high level of job effectiveness and positive student and faculty interactions.

Stoel received the award on Friday, Dec. 7, during the division’s Christmas celebration.

Stoel has been a member of the Hope staff since 2004.  She assists departments including computer science, engineering, the geological and environmental sciences, mathematics and physics.  In addition to being praised for the breadth of her positive impact on many areas in the division, she was celebrated for contributions including her generous use of her time, timely handling of departmental requests, command of budget and administrative procedures, and the high quality of her service as a resource and liaison for faculty and students.

The division began presenting the Staff Excellence Award during the 2008-09 school year as a way of recognizing the significant contributions made by staff members toward the success of the division.  The other recipients have been Lori Hertel, director of biology laboratories (2008); David C. Daugherty, machinist for natural sciences laboratories (2009); Tod Gugino, director of chemistry laboratories (2010); and Pam Dinucci, office assistant in the department of nursing (2011).
