Two Hope College athletes have received weekly honors from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) — volleyball’s Courtney Earles and football’s Cody Lindemulder.

Earles is the MIAA Position Player of the Week in volleyball. The senior middle hitter from Kentwood (East Kentwood HS) totaled 21 kills for an attack percentage of .556 and six blocks last week. She helped the Flying Dutch win two matches to move into a share of first place in the MIAA standings.

Earles totaled 12 kills and three blocks as Hope rallied to defeat Calvin in five sets, ending the Knights’ 49-match MIAA winning streak dating back to 2010. Then, she had nine kills in 11 attempts (.818 percentage) and three blocks in a sweep of Saint Mary’s.

Earles is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time in her career.

Lindemulder is the MIAA Defensive Player of the Week. The junior from Mulliken (Lake Odessa Lakewood HS) made nine tackles, including six solo stops, intercepted two passes and forced a fumble in the Flying Dutchmen’s 43-23 road win at Alma.

Lindemulder is second on Hope with 58 tackles this season, including 32 solos. He shared the team leads with three interceptions and 2 ½ sacks.

Lindemulder is being honored as Player of the Week for the second time this season and in his career.
