Alex Eidson

Hope College men’s basketball player Alex Eidson has been named Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Co-Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played February 3-8, 2014.

The sophomore guard from Grand Haven (Grand Haven HS) averaged 19.3 points and shot 75 percent from 3-point range in leading the Flying Dutchmen to three wins in six days to move them into sole possession of first place in the MIAA.

Eidson fired in 27 points, including 6-of-7 shooting from 3-point range, and grabbed seven rebounds in a 76-61 win over Kalamazoo on Monday. He added 17 points in an 83-65 win over Calvin on Wednesday in a battle for first place, then scored 14 in an 88-73 win against Albion on Saturday.

Eidson is being honored as Player of the Week for the second time this season and in his career. He sank 12 of 16 3-point attempts for the week. He also shot 64 percent from the field (18 of 28) and 83 percent from the line (10 of 12).

Eidson shared the MIAA award with Olivet guard Blake Krum.
