Maura McAfee

Hope College women’s basketball player Maura McAfee is the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Player of the Week for games played February 24-March 1.

The sophomore from Midland (Midland HS) averaged 17.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 2.0 blocked shots for the week in leading the unbeaten Flying Dutch to the MIAA Tournament championship. 

McAfee scored a career-high 27 points, making 9-of-10 shots from the field and 9-of-10 from the free throw line, as Hope defeated Calvin 88-79 in the tournament championship game. She tied the school record for single-game scoring by a Hope player at DeVos Fieldhouse.

McAfee also pulled down 13 rebounds and added five steals and three blocked shots in just 29 minutes of action against the Knights.

McAfee is being honored as Player of the Week for the fourth time this season and in her career.
