Hope College fans can vote for two Hope student-athletes as their favorite NCAA Elite 89 winners in a national contest.

Vote now once a day and then pass the word along to show your support for Hope cross country runner Michelle Kerr and volleyball player Jayne Kessel, two of the nation's top NCAA student-athletes!

The first round of voting is now open and will continue through 5 p.m. Sunday, July 13, when the field of 89 will be narrowed down to 30 semifinalists.

Each year, an Elite 89 award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's 89 championships.

Kerr, a nursing major, is a junior from Dearborn, Michigan (Divine Child HS). She won her Elite 89 Award last November.

Kessel, who wants to be become an orthodontist, is majoring in chemistry and minoring in Spanish. The junior from Byron Center, Michigan (Grand Rapids South Christian HS), also won her Elite 89 Award last November.
