Hope College’s Darren Ford has been selected the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Special Teams for the Week for games played October 15.

The junior from Howell, Michigan (Howell) tied a MIAA record with four field goals during a 25-7 win at Adrian on Saturday. It is believed to be a school record.

Ford connected on field goals of 26, 30, 21 and 19 yards. His first two field goals gave the Flying Dutchmen a 6-0 halftime lead against the preseason favorite in the MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll.

Ford helped Hope snap a four-game losing streak to Adrian and move into sole possession of third place in the MIAA standings.

Ford went 4-of-6 from field-goal range while also converting his one point-after kick. He also kicked off six times for three touchdowns and a 59.8 per kick average.

Ford also handed punting duties for Hope and averaged 38.0 yards over four attempts.

This is Ford’s second MIAA weekly honor of his career and the first this season.
