Hope College’s Francesca Buchanan has been chosen the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played through November 19.
The sophomore center from Grant, Michigan (Sparta HS) is selected for the first time after helping the Flying Dutch win their first three games of the season, including a come-from-behind overtime win against a nationally ranked opponent. She averaged 18.7 points and 8.7 rebounds last week.
Buchanan scored a career-high 27 points thanks to a DeVos Fieldhouse-record 12 field goals in the victory over No. 21 Wheaton, Illinois on Tuesday.
Buchanan made the all-tournament team at Hope’s Tip-Off Tournament after totaling 18 points and 10 rebounds in Friday’s 93-47 win over Finlandia and 11 points and eight rebounds in Saturday’s 85-61 win over Franklin, Indiana.
