Hope College baseball player Ryan Konkle has been voted a D3baseball.com All-Mideast First Team Selection for the 2016 season.

The senior from Marshall, Michigan (Marshall HS) is one of 13 players overall and three outfielders named to the first team. 

Konkle is now eligible for D3baseball.com All-America consideration. Players were nominated by sports information directors from Division III schools. 

Konkle helped the Flying Dutchmen post a 25-19 overall record this season while hitting .447 with single-season school records for hits with 68, doubles with 17 and RBI with 59. 

This season marked the 23rd time a Hope player finished the season as a .400 hitter with a minimum of 50 at-bats. He ranked third all-time behind Jim Klunder’s 1988 mark of .471 and Jon Edmondson’s 2003 average of .452. 

Konkle’s 152 at-bats were the most a Flying Dutchmen to bat .400 and 19 more than anyone else in the group. 

Konkle is the first Hope baseball player to reach the 50-RBI mark. 

Konkle also ranks among Hope’s career leaders in several categories:

  • 6th in on-base percentage - .456
